Oil spilled on the Mississippi river in the United States due to collisions

About 420 gallons of oil spilled as a result of collision of ships on the Mississippi River. The incident occurred near the town of Convent in Louisiana in the southern United States.

The incident occurred on April 6 at 16.00 local time (00.00 MSK). Cargo ship Privocean slipped anchor, floated down the river and collided with a towing vessel Texas, which at the time was anchored. Then the cargo ship continued to sail on the river and collided with the tanker Bravo, from which the oil is unloaded.

According to the US Coast Guard crew Texas was taken to hospital for medical examination. No injuries were reported, according to RIA Novosti. Section of the river length of 14.5 kilometers, where there was a spill, closed to traffic.
