Derailment of Six Tank Cars near the Petroleum Plant “Ufaneftehim”March 24, 2014
Ufa, March 22, 05:40 AM – six tank wagons hauling mazut ran off the rails outside the territory of the oil refinery “Bashneft-Ufaneftehim” in Ordzhonikidze district. One of the rail tanks leaked. At 08:15 AM, the leakage was eliminated.
The derailment occurred between the 9th post and “Zagorodnaya” station on the rail ways possessed by "Bashneft-Ufaneftekhim", the subsidiary of JSC "Bashneft". The total area of the spill was 15 sq. meters.
Fire did not break out. Nobody was injured. There is also no threat of the environmental pollution.
According to the Emercom of the Republic of Bashkortostan, all the railroad cars were lifted back to the railways the next day. Originally, 20 people and 6 fire engines worked at the scene, but the final liquidation of the incident required more than 40 Emercom workers, 10 fire engines and more than 80 members of a local subdivision of the United State System of Emergency Prevention and Liquidation (RSChS).
The cause of the incident involving six tank cars of mazut is unknown at the moment. The specialists are conducting the investigation.
